The International Guest Student Program at University of Michigan-Flint: Application Portal

The University of Michigan-Flint welcomes undergraduate and graduate students from the following institutions to apply and enroll as guest students at the University of Michigan-Flint:

Overview of Application & Enrollment Steps
To participate in the international guest student program, you must FIRST be approved and nominated by your home campus.
See the Dates and Deadlines section below for nomination periods. 
When you receive an email from the University of Michigan-Flint approving your nomination, please follow the steps below:

STEP 1: APPLY ONLINE AND SUBMIT APPLICATION DOCUMENTS INTO WORLDLINK
Click Apply Now below and follow the instructions to create a profile in M-Flint WorldLink.

Please complete required application questions. 

In addition, you will be required to upload the  the following items (please note, all items must be in English or have English translations):
  • Student Learning Agreement (link to agreement form is provided in application)
  • Official University Transcript
  • Original Proof of English Proficiency
  • Copy of Bachelor's Degree (for graduate applicants only)

STEP 2: SUBMIT SUPPORTING DOCUMENTS INTO iSERVICE
Once the application and admission process is complete, you will receive an email from our iService system to begin your immigration document collection process.

Items you will upload in iService include:
  • Copy of Passport
  • Affidavit of Financial Support
  • Original Bank Statement(s)

STEP 3: PREPARE TO TRAVEL
  • Once you submit all application and immigration items online, you will receive further communication regarding admissions packet mailing instructions.
  • The admissions packet includes your UM-Flint log-in information (which you will use to register for classes), your official UM-Flint acceptance letter, and your DS-2019 immigration document, as well as other important information.
  • When you receive your admissions packet from UM-Flint, you may then register in UM-Flint's Student Information System (SIS) for the courses approved on your Learning Agreement.
  • Apply for a J -1 visa at the nearest U.S. embassy/consulate.
  • Apply for housing at either First Street Residence Hall or Riverfront Residence Hall.
  • Understand the policies about Health Insurance.
  • Book your flight and notify the International Center of your arrival.
  • Arrive in time for International Student Orientation.
  • Airport pick-up service is available for students who arrive into Flint Bishop Airport (FNT)
