Program Description:

Hasselt University 
Location: Hasselt, Belgium

Hasselt University was officially established in 1971 as ‘Limburgs Universitair Centrum’ (LUC), but it was not until 1973 that the university – literally – opened its doors and welcomed its first students. Over the past 40 years Hasselt University has grown into an innovative and dynamic university with 2 campuses (Diepenbeek and Hasselt) and 7 research institutes.

  • Must have completed at least two major terms

Course Registration
Students register for specified courses at UM-Flint. Students identify the courses they want to take at Hasselt by completing a Off Campus Experience Course Approval Form with an academic advisor/dean.

Tuition & Fees
Students pay UM-Flint tuition and fees based of the number of credits of which they register.

Housing and Living Costs
Students can secure accommodations themselves, or ask the international office to help find accommodation for them. Single furnished rooms owned by private landlords or furnished rooms in University dorms (limited number) are available for rent. Students are required to apply for housing as soon as possible.

Students can expect to spend between $900 - $1,400 per month depending on accommodations and lifestyle.

HOW TO APPLY
  1. Check eligibility requirements and dates for the program, and review courses offered at Hasselt
  2. Apply in WorldLink for the exchange program by clicking “Apply Now” 
  3. Meet with the academic coordinator/dean of the program (Dr. Yener Kandogan) to complete a Off Campus Experience Course Approval Form and other relevant items.
  4. Submit all requested items to HU
  5. After you receive confirmation from HU regarding your acceptance, register for the appropriate business courses in SIS
  6. Confirm housing arrangements
  7. Apply for a student travel visa
  8. Book airline ticket
  9. Pay appropriate UM-Flint tuition/fees
  10. Travel abroad and notify the UM-Flint Education Abroad Office of your safe arrival. If you change classes while abroad, notify the appropriate UM-Flint academic coordinator
  11. At the end of the semester, request that the transcript be sent to the UM-Flint Education Abroad Office
